Hampton STR Ordinance

We need to come out in full force on June 12th and be there at 5:30 PM.

Hampton City Council Legislative Session

On Wednesday, June 12th at 5:30 we would like to get the first 50 people there to speak. They have a limit and so the more people there to speak on the ordinance, the better it will be for us. The meeting should begin around 6:30 PM.

Hampton City Council Chambers

At the Planning Commission meeting, there were over 200 people there to speak about this. Not everyone was there as an owner and that shows that there are people who have seen a benefit.

Message from the CEO of SkyRun - Lukas Kraus

First, I want to thank all of you for what you do day in and day out. Your commitment to advocate for our industry and the homeowners we support is a vital piece to helping the world see the true benefits of short-term rentals. It is unfortunate that as an industry we have been unjustly singled out for a much broader affordability crisis when, in fact, short-term rentals account for less than 1% of the housing stock.

While the regulatory environment of our industry is still being shaped, there has been a lot of encouraging progress made lately as our peers are shifting to a more proactive approach. Multiple local markets have commissioned and released strong economic impact studies (most recently North Carolina), showing how important our industry is to the local and broader economies. This is helping to tell more of our story and improve the public’s understanding of our space.

Additionally, recent legal wins in Austin, TX and Telluride, CO illustrate a promising step in the right direction as we continue to advocate for our businesses and the homeowners we support. Our peers have also done an excellent job of linking arms in preemptive efforts to protect our interest in Colorado (SB33) and Florida (Senate Bill 280). The strong show of force in Colorado had a significant impact and has forced legislators to go back to the drawing board. We are hopeful to have the same effect on Senate Bill 280 in Florida.

Thanks to all of you for what you do in encouraging others to get involved and help the cause. It will take a combined effort to protect our industry and our businesses. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to help support the efforts in your market.
